While someone like Tony Hawk, won’t ever really quit skating, as we learn in the documentary it’s not always up to you. However, Tony Hawk has landed a new endeavor, an HBO MAX Documentary on his life as a skateboarder who’s often dealt with a question many skaters have had to ask themselves: “Is it time for me to quit skating?” But skateboarding being what it is, something far greater than a competition or sport, the world remembers Tony Hawk for pushing what’s possible and representing skateboarding as an ambassador and public figure. What many skaters and people don’t remember is that the 900 was landed after regulation and actually didn’t technically count. The Birman took the world by storm after landing his infamous 900 at the 1999 Summer X-Games, completing 2 and 1/2 rotations before gliding back into the ramp and tossing his helmet and pads into the crowd. There may be no person more linked to skateboarding than Tony Hawk, and rightfully so.
